What to Know About
Training therapy dogs involves teaching them to engage with a variety of individuals and to feel at ease in unfamiliar places and situations. They should adore people, have a calm temperament, and be unaffected by strange sounds and motions.
Therapy dogs have a different role than service dogs and emotional support animals. They aren’t trained to assist a specific person but rather they are generalized to assist all types of individuals.
These are dogs are usually found with their human partners (often the dog’s owner), in clinical settings. This includes schools, assisted livings, hospitals, nursing homes, courthouses, counseling, and more. These dogs are also trained to be remarkably obedient along with providing comfort, affection, and love in the course of their work.
